Electorate of Moreton in Queensland

Created in 1901 and one of the original divisions contested at the first Federal Election, Moreton covers the southern suburbs of Brisbane. Covering an area of approximately 111 sq km it stretches from Fairfield in the north, Sunnybank Hills in the south, Corinda, Chelmer, and Oxley in the west, to Kuraby and Eight Mile Plains in the east. The main suburbs of Moreton include Fairfield, Acacia Ridge, Archerfield, Oxley, Salisbury, Chelmer, Coopers Plains, Runcorn, Corinda, Fairfield, Graceville, Kuraby,Tennyson, Macgregor, Willawong, Moorooka, Nathan, Robertson, Rocklea, Sherwood, Sunnybank, Yeerongpilly, Yeronga and Sunnybank Hills. It also includes parts of Eight Mile Planes, Algester, Annerley, and Tarragindi. It is named after the area it is located, Moreton Bay.
